Last night I posted an update to the API2 so that it returns more proper response conditions (Jira issue 137 - https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ESME-137). The patch including unit tests is attached to the issue. Please review and commit when possible, or let me know if there are any issues.
I'm trying to be a bit more disciplined about creating Jira issues and solving one problem per patch :-) Ethan
