Dear sections,

As october is already far behind us, the time is right to inform you on the
latest developments. We had a couple of interesting (to say the least)
regional platforms and an alumni event, and then a bunch of meetings on the
chat, so hey, we've been busy. Where in our last monthly mail the word "new"
was the prime thing, for october we switch to "report". Since the AGM is
approaching rapidly, this is the thing you need to know what we are doing
and where we wish to go with your support.

Pallomeri,
Nick.

- More details about the dismissed President

A lot of people have asked us what the story is behind the vote of no
confidence towards our previous president. The problem at hand was actually
that we had a problem in communicating with her, meaning that we just
couldn't reach her. After a couple of months (in August) we succeeded in
arranging a meeting, and she then confirmed that she would send an official
explanation to the CNR at the end of September. When this didn't occur, we
had no choice but to try and initiate a change in the board. Up to this
point, we still have no news.

- SEP report

The South-European Platform took place in Marrakech. After accepting Morocco
as a member country, and after the board accepted the Ifrane section, this
was an excellent opportunity to extend the relations of ESN. We were very
well received by the education minister and several officials of the city
and the universities, and the total image of the program was impressive to
say the least. Six countries were represented and this made it possible to
open the discussion on some urgent matters. The board's proposal for the
continuity system was well accepted, and the represented sections voted on
the status of national boards. Talks were held on the corporate identity
issue as well as on the developping state of the ESN Card.

- CEP report

The CEP was a great event and we pushed things pretty much forward at the
CEP.

Participating countries were:
Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria (with almost all 13 sections!)
Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and last but not least and the
furtherst away: Sweden. Unfortunenately the representative of AEGEE could
not come to the CEP, but anyway there were a lot of people of central
Europe, despite the problems we had with internet- registrations.

The contact to Martin from Slovakia was established. Martin is President of
a buddy system in Bratislava and wants to integrate "his" association into
our network. Thanks for his perfect presentation.
So we are looking forward to welcome ESN Slovakia soon. Furthermore Martin
has a private contact to Mr. Figel the new European Commissionaire for
Education => "our one" ;-)

We got useful information in the PR Seminar-lecture from Stefan (PR section
on local section's webpage, pictures, articles,...). The Knowledge
Management session also raised interesting points and issues everybody can
uses in daily life and makes ESN- work easier.

On the one hand we already discussed topics for the Annual General Meeting
in Gdansk in advance, so that we do not have endless discussion with 300
people there. This was very useful to get the opinion of the sections
directly. On the other hand the sections became a pretty good insight of the
national and international levels' work. What the International Board's
projects are and what is more important who they are.

- ESN Alumni Event report

Home of the first AGM, ESN Gent now hosted the first Alumni Event to
celebrate the 15th birthday of our growing network. Alumni have a lot of
information to share, so we included an official part in the program by
visiting the Socrates office in Brussels. This is definitely a place that
should tickle our fancy on a permanent basis. The rest of the weekend was
more about enjoying the possibilities that the Belgian culture has to offer.
City trips combined with a brewery, chocolate shops and a jenever factory
filled up the day, and the meals were also in accordance with what we are
used to. A genuine ESN party cut the breath of those who survived the rest
of the program.
--------------------------------------------------

- NNM in Odense

In only nine days the long expected Nordic Network Meeting will finally take
place in beautiful Odense, Denmark.
The program will be quite the same as for the other RPs, we will prediscuss
hot AGM topics and have some usefull workshops.
We will let you know more about in the next monthly mail.

- InCommon

The InCommon online magazine is ready to be promoted. Now that the layout
and the structure found their way onto the net, we are waiting for you to
supply us with some texts to colour the page. Talk about your personal
epxeriences, talk about others and gossip freely, talk about things that you
think we should know. Don't give your version of quantum theory, and don't
translate Shakespeare into Latin, but you still have freedom to choose your
topic.

Don't miss www.incommon.info and make your country, your section or yourself
known in a InCommon way.......
