Call for Board Members 2005/06 Do you want to be an ESN Board Member, but don't know where to start?
As many of you probably know, there weren't many at the AGM 2004 in Helsinki. Why? Maybe there was not much information about that, or maybe many people were scared by the amount of work that could fall on their shoulders as being in the Board. This year we would like to provide you with all the necessary information about what's going to happen if you will be elected, what ESN expects from you and what ESN can give you. Firstly, we'll describe the available positions, then we will tell you a little bit more about some practical information about travel expenses, amount and place of work. Of course it is up to the Board to share the work among them in a way that everything is done well- so these job descriptions are just guidelines. Don't hesitate to ask in case you have any questions or you feel uncertain about something. Asking won't engage you to anything. We, the current Board, can strongly encourage you to go for this unforgettable experience, that will change your life as a student exchange does. You will gain an invaluable experience in the international, well structured and constantly growing organisation. Beside that you will expand your professional and personal network all over Europe and beyond. Europe will become your hometown. DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! Job Descriptions President The President is the official representative of ESN towards other organizations and institutions. The most important job of the President is to coordinate the work of the members of the Board. The President must be aware of the work done by the members of the Board. S/he is responsible for organizing Meetings with persons working in the EHEA. The President presents all the documents and work concerning the international level done by sections and as national projects approved by the Board and CNR and/or Board. S/he is responsible for having an overview of the network and is repsonsible for the implementation of long-term strategy and reforms. Obviously travelling all around Europe and beyond is crucial. Workload: about 30 hours per week Vice-President S/he is responsible for searching official conferences and meetings where ESN International can and must represent the organization according to its interests. The Vice-president coordinates the communication between the CNR and Board; providing feedback for the CNR Meetings, sending relevant documents of the EHEA. The Vice-President takes over the tasks of the President if he/she is not available. S/he supports, and consults the work of the President. The Vice-President always has to stay updated on all the current happenings. S/he is the main contact person between the board and the organization committees of ESN's international events, such as Board and CNR meetings, Culture Medley, Annual General Meeting and the Regional Platforms. Workload: about 20 hours per week Treasurer The Treasurer is responsible for all the financial matters of ESN International. This includes being in charge of the bank account, collecting the membership fees, keeping the financial documents updated, writing the financial reports, setting up a budget for the following Board. S/he is the contact person of the Fundraiser and supplies the board and the fundraiser with all fundraising documents needed. The Treasurer keeps the Board updated on the financial situation of ESN International. Because of the sending costs the treasurer will have all the PR materials of ESN International and s/he will send out the welcome packages or any other material asked by any of the ESN members. The treasurer will lead the ESN e-shop. All the budgetary matters have to be consulted with the treasurer before Board decisions. Workload: about 10 hours per week Network Administrator S/he is responsible for the administrative part of the work done by the Board and the CNR (internal communication, moderating all the mailing lists of ESN International, updating the data of local, national and international levels at least three times a year (after the AGM, at the beginning of the academic year and before the AGM), updating the Alumni database, taking and preparing the Minutes of the Board Meetings, writing monthly reports concerning ESN Int to the sections together with the President). The Network Administrator answers all the emails of the [EMAIL PROTECTED] email address, works on the expansion of the network, supervises the Webmaster with the help of the head of the ESN server. Workload: about 15 hours per week Regular Board Member The main task of the fifth member of the Board will be PR and external relations. S/he also has to collect feedbacks from the Board and CNR, for the Meetings and the AGM. Together with the Vice-President the Regular Board Member provides feedback concerning the EHEA. This person takes care of the communication with Alumni, supervises and guides the work of InCommon and ESN Book. S/he is responsible for producing all the PR materials decided by the Board. S/he helps all board members if needed and has to keep in contact with other organisations, governments and the European Commission dealing with student issues. Regular Board Member is actually the most "flexible" position in the Board. Workload: about 15 hours per week Practical information: ESN International will have an office in Brussels in 2005/06 and some Board Members are expected to work and live there as much as possible. Most Board meetings will be held in Brussels. ESN International will pay the rent of the apartment and, provided that will get the EC grant, will cover basic living (between 300 and 500 euros per month) and all travel expenses. There are already more than 5 persons that showed more or less serious interest in joining 2005/06 Board. It looks like we will have "real" elections at the AGM 05 in Gdansk.
