I am writing you on behalf of ESN Leiden(the Netherlands). This last year we have made a lot of effort to boast ESN in Leiden. We have spend many hours in evaluating and improving everything that ESN Leiden does. At the beginning of the year ESN Leiden turned out to be the smallest ESN sections of Holland. We received almost no fundings, had no good contract deals, wich made the ESN look amateuristically. Our goal was to improve all of that. We knew we had only one year and could accomplish but so many. But we think even at the half of this year, we already exceeded our quotas for a whole year. We did that by increasing our funds from the University by at least 100% (amount is still climbing and negociations are open). Besides we arranged contract deals with a local sponsor who provided as much as the former funds from the university, so again a increase of 100%. Besides we automated everything for ESN. We now have an awsome new website(Content Management System: very easy system for handeling the website; allows everyone(even non-digibetes) to change the website). For the mentorprogram we have made a whole new access program wich will soon be launched on the website. This will provide automated mentor assingment and more features like automated birthdaycard sending, etc. For the website and the name of ESN as a whole we upgraded the awfully looking old ESN logo(you can see it on our website www.esn-leiden.nl), wich is now a flashy, modern looking logo. This was only the whole background for ESN Leiden. Thanks to all the new funding it was possible for us to provide a whole new range of activities for the international students(and we also got the opportunity to lower the prices, wich is always good). First ever ESN Leiden arranged a introduction weekend for all the international students, which was a huge success. Besides that where: an introductiondinner, bigger partys, more interesting lectures, etc. If you compare the years before us, we doubled the ammount of activities with much greater activities. We are also planning an activity with all the great ESN sections in our part of Holland and besides that we are also arranging 1-on-1 visits with other sections, which we will be visiting with our students. All this of course delivered us a whole lot of headaches, shortages in time, shortages in money, etc. We were allocated for 6 hours max. Now we are doing between 20 till 30 hours without funding.... So you see our university is very glad with us because we already achieved so lot for ESN, but on the other hand the univeristy isn't so glad with us because our studies have sufferd from all the ESN work...
