As you may have followed in the ESS 25.01.0 thread, I released updated versions
of Emacs Modified for macOS and for Windows.

An ever increasing number of Emacs extensions (including AUCTeX, ESS and
polymode) are now distributed through package archives such as ELPA and MELPA.
Emacs Modified is now built using the Emacs package system for many of its
extensions. This means that by default the package system is active and the
packages are initialized.
Version 29.4-modified-3 includes, among other goodies, ESS 25.01.1, AUCTeX
14.0.8, polymode 0.2.2 and Ramon Diaz-Uriarte's patch to make the latter two
work correctly together for .Rnw files.

(vol. 45, no. 3) of TUGBoat, the Communications of the TeX Users Group
(https://tug.org/TUGboat/Contents/contents45-3.html). Online access is
currently restricted to TUG members, but will become free once the next issue
is out.]
