(Presumably by "upper-level packet" you mean "lower-level packet".)

That wouldn't be the only solution to the problem.

Another solution would be to have one line for each of the *top-level*
packets, with all lines past the first probably having blank columns for
those fields that are per-frame (such as the frame number and the
addresses).
