[Ethereal-dev] 'Assertion failed' with CVS snapshots & Mandrake 9.0.

I'm trying to compile/run the latest CVS snapshot (25-11, although the
problem was in earlier ones as well) on my Mandrake 9 Linux box.
Compilation goes without a hitch after I found out that Mandrake 9 needs
'--disable-usr-local' (thanks to this list).
The resulting (t)ethereal binaries, however, die with the following:

** ERROR **: file proto.c: line 2043 (proto_register_protocol):
assertion failed: (g_list_find_custom(protocols, name, proto_match_name)
== NULL)
aborting...
Aborted
Any idea what the problem might be? The 0.9.7 release tarball compiles
and runs without a problem.
If any other info is needed, please let me know.
