The only thing we know is that someone watched an Ethereal mailing list some time, and posted some messages to this list, and now is bugged with a virus. Maybe this user is not even subscribed anymore to one of the Ethereal mailing lists.
It might not even be that. Many viruses now comb through browser caches too, so anyone who might have viewed the archives (are email addresses shown in any of the archives?) could have sent it as well.
