Does it really make sense to keep this version in the config.nmake, as thats a file where the common developer could change things.

I don't think this version should be changed by the common developer, but only by the wiretap developer.
Maybe there's a better place for this changes/settings? Maybe some header file both "roots" will use?
I wondered for this version number a while ago, as I didn't get a reason for this, keeping it 0.0 all the time ;-)
