Well, that's how it should be, and I usually use it that was, so no bug in this part :-)BTW: If I set "gui.geometry_main_maximized" to "TRUE",it does maximum the ethereal display on startup for GTK2.
I've checked in a fix for the bug you described, sizing should be working fine now :-)
