I did the suggestions to no avail - then tried saving the file by
specifying a .cap filename suffix - and it worked.  I thought it would
save with the proper extension automatically - sorry for the fire drill.


I surely do appreciate the prompt and expert response!

Well, if I open it with Ethereal 0.9.9 on Windows 2000, and save it as
"Network Associates Sniffer (Windows-based) 2.00x", I can read it with
Sniffer Pro 4.6 with no problems.

What version of Ethereal are you using?  If it's a version before 0.9.9,
try upgrading to 0.9.9.
