Hello Mitja, we're stumbling often over this installation step when changing the kernel / preempt patch / target system. Usually we do not have the kernel headers for the system which is a requirement for the installation. When choosing a system to install one should consider if kernel headers are available for the combination. Please anyone correct me if i'm wrong.

Greetings Mitja ________________________________ Dear Etherlab-Users, i run into some problems installing the EtherCAT master 1.5.2. After switching to OpenSUSE due to compatibility issues with Ubuntu i now use this guide : https://www.symbitron.eu/wiki/index.php?title=EtherLab_Installation#Installing_the_IgH_EtherCAT_master_1.5.2 Everything works until i have to configure the EtherCAT master. When using ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/etherlab --disable-8139too --enable-e1000e --with-linux-dir=/usr/src/packages/SOURCES/linux-3.4.32-rt46-2-preempt_rt it stops, saying: configure: error: Failed to extract Linux kernel version! does anyone have an idea how to solve this? Kind regards Mitja Oldenbourg
