Log:
Test refactoring: introduce a method -testBranchWithExistingAndNewContext for
running a block of tests on both the existing context as well as a fresh one.
Should remove a lot of duplicated code in places where we were doing the tests
twice (existing context + reloaded context), and make the tests more thorough
in places we weren't
