It would also be nice if we could add the ability to 'throw' views of objects (or copies of views) to other users displays. This is something that is not really done well by classic or web apps. It could be done quite simply by extending view permissions to another user and then sending them an XMPP message (or email, or whatever) with an etoile:// URL pointing at the object. The recipient would then be asked if they wished to view the shared object, and have it launch if the answer was yes.
This, I think, is ultimately the point we want to be able to get to. Live collaboration, where users can literally share projects. We would probably need something akin to what SubEthaEdit or Coccinella use, and probably have to have one user assigned as the owner (or run it from an always-on server, like a chat room), but I think this would be what would really set Etoile apart from other systems. Since everything is moving to a collaborative model anyway, making everything sharable is a crucial component of the next-generation desktops.
