This one is somewhere at 0.6, too. At the moment I'm not happy with
its stability, though. I'm thinking about completely dropping the old
Grr and rewriting a new, better designed application. If Grr in its
current form still comes into an Etoile release, it will definitely
have multithreading disabled. (It just wasn't designed for this when
I began with it.)

Hm, one thing I would like is a better integration in the environment of
Jabber and RSS... could be a simple for now as writing a menulet
showing the last RSS, etc. ?

Sometimes Nesedah makes applications very slow. I remember using
Cynthiune with Nesedah, which was a really painful experience. :-( We
should make sure it doesn't get in the way when it comes to
performance and test it very thoroughly before releasing it into the
wild.

Hm, sure; if it is slow it needs to be improved :-)
I am working on integrating the specific -gui modifications that are in Camaelon
back into -gui (in the branch "themes"). Once it's done Camaelon will need to
be cleaned up and we can work on improving its performances. But these modifs
should not impact a lot Camaelon itself, so whatever improvement we do will
not be lost.

We could possibly distribute the current svn version as the 0.2
version -- it seems
to work ok,.. mostly. I should progress quickly on -gui, it's mostly
backporting Camaelon modifs and doing it cleanly. So well it depends
how far I will be with that when we'll want to release étoilé 0.2 --
if it's not finished then we can distributed the current svn version,
if it's finished we'll need to update Camaelon to use -gui properly.

I vote for HelpViewer. IMHO a working help system is - from the user
perspective - one of the most important things still lacking in
Etoile (and GNUstep in general). I am really looking forward to use
it. :-)

I worked on HelpViewer recently; mostly, I moved to xhtml documents.
Parser needs to be finished but it works for basic tags. When done, I
can import it as it is in étoilé, as we'll be able to use it to
document our applications. Shouldn't take too long, if I can get some
free time.

The long term goal is to move the xhtml parsing as a TextConverter
(that we can provide with étoilé or that can perhaps be included
directly in gnustep, I'm not fixed), and put most of helpviewer in
NSHelpPanel (so that the online help is displayed "in" the
applications and not in a separate program.. good thing is help panels
will be automatically hidden, etc. Basically as in OPENSTEP).

HelpViewer itself will continue to exists as an application, but to
browse documentation not linked to specific app (eg manpages, or
documentation explicitely added...). Hopefully it wil become more like
Librarian.app then (eg a place where you can drop "documentation"
which will be indexed and where you can easily search/organize, etc.)
