I notice that the problem is in Etoile that is a poppler.cc in the
frameworks/PopplerKit
anr I compile poppler from ports in FreeBSD and works, but the Poppler Kit
within Etolile has a bug

Slackware Linux. In fact I tried to compile Etoile today and got the
same problem as you. I think I need to install Poppler and tried to
compile the 0.5.4 version. I've got problems with the fontconfig.h and
could not install. I think Etoile needs it.
