I rework the AZBackground to use native X protocol to draw background. There should be no refreshing problem. Although you can not draw on background as on NSView, it can take NSImage. So as long as you can put everything on NSImage, it will still work.
I plan to bundle some default images for background. Is it legal to bundle the ones mentioned in bug #8606 ? Jesse ? I figure it is better to ask before I put them in svn. Once they are in svn, it will be difficult to remove throughly.
