  You can start by poking frameworks and applications in Etoile.
  If you want to write your own, my suggestion is to
  write one which you will use frequently.
  Otherwise, the project usually dies out when the interest is gone.
  You can also start by porting some existing Cocoa application to GNUstep.
  I found that is sometimes very useful to learn something new.

  Regarding to license, BSD is probably the most compatible one.
  Apache 2.0 is not compatible with GPL/LGPL 2
  while GPL/LGPL 2 has virulous effect.
  So even thgouth there is no problem of linking, I guess,
  sometimes you may want to borrow some codes from one project to another,
  then you will get caught in the license issue.
