Perhaps the code here http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/charmap/ would be be
useful for a character pallete to be included in EtoileExtensionsKit. Or, just
as a standalone app with which characters can be manipulated via the pasteboard.

 I also sent an email to the author couple days ago and got no reply. :P
 Charmap is nice to be a standalone app (GPL2),
 but may not good as character input.
 Because most fonts do not cover all the characters,
 there are many empty space in Charmap.app,
 while character panel in Typewriter only display the characters a
given font offers.
 Charmap try to display all the characters in Unicode
 with a choice of font (maybe multiple fonts in the future)
 and character panel try to display what a given font can offer.
 The approach is slightly different.
