Rather than a lizard, what about a snake? I like the skin-
shedding metaphor, since we've got Mozilla wrapped in GTK wrapped
in GNUstep. How about something like:
Sidewinder -- a type of rattlesnake, and the name has a
meandering/ browsing/wandering quality to it
Also the name of a missile...
True, didn't think of that :\
Oroboros -- a snake biting its own tail, makes me think of links
and connections, what browsers are all about
Also the name of a window manager, although spelled slightly
differently ("orobous").
