Hello Jesse, hello list,
my usual disclaimer: I can not actually do any coding, nor do I even get beyond the very first steps in installing the
etoile environment as it presently is. But of course, I have ideas about what would (possibly) a cool thing to try
when I get there. So take this with a mountain of salt and if you prefer regard it as internet noise...
One of the things I would at some point like to get my head around is whether it would be possible to get parts of
what makes Plan9 so special fit into gnustep/etoile. Most of the ideas are centering around acme and rio, but this:

- Not all files have file names. Creating a new file does just that -- it makes a blank document in some
predefined, user-customizable size. As such, you don't need to necessarily name the document. This is handy for
things like photos that are more readily identifiable based on looking at a thumbnail. Some documents, like code,
may require a file name in order to compile. This would be set in the Settings... menu option, as seen in the
next image.
made me remember the presentation by Uriel [1] and how cool it is to open windows like this (click and drag on the
desktop background to specify the dimensions of the window and then either open a default content there (which in the
case of plan9/rio is Rc, the shell) or ask what should be put in the window).
Perhaps it would be feasible to add such a mode of creating objects.
Just an idea,
Andreas
