I had totally forgotten about minimize in place -- I actually really love that solution, and it worked very well when I tested it on OS X via a 3rd party plugin. What's really nice about it is that when using something like Expose along with it, you can still see all the windows you have open (versus minimize to the dock, which causes Expose to ignore those windows).
