Is it ever possible to port Étoilé packages to Mac OS X and/or iOS? Some of the
frameworks looked cute to me to use in my iPhone and Mac projects.
Yes, that's possible. For frameworks that support Mac OS X or iOS, there is
usually a 'Mac OS X Support' section in the README.
Here is a quick summary :
- EtoileFoundation: supported on both OS X and iOS minus some small parts (two
distinct Xcode projects)
- LanguageKit: interpreter supported on OS X but broken currently iirc (JIT
cannot be supported)
- CoreObject: supported on OS X (going to be supported on iOS at some point)
- EtoileUI: supported on OS X
- EtoilePaint: supported on OS X
- IconKit: supported on OS X
- UnitKit: supported on OS X (support for iOS coming soon)
- EtoileText: to be supported on OS X soon
- XMPPKit: was supported a while ago on OS X, but is probably broken right now
(Xcode project included in Services/User/StepChat iirc)
Cheers,
Quentin.

Yes probably XMPPKit is broken on OS X, actually, I never tested the new
version of XMPPKit/StepChat on OS X, I done tests only on GNU/Linux
(various distros) and FreeBSD.
An additional information is that I compiled all with the
llvm/clang-3.1, I'm switching slowly to the new llvm-3.2 but I don't
advice to compile with that, it is very "young".
You should try with llvm/clang-3.1
Cheers,
Alex
