I've recently installed Macromedia Flash and it was fairly easy to do.

Type (assuming your file is called flash_linux.tar.gz like mine was)

tar -xzf flash_linux.tar.gz

This should create a directory called Linux and place some files there.  Now
all you have to do is copy the plugin files to your .netscape/plugins directory
and you should be all set to rock-n-roll. :-)

cp Linux/libflashplayer.so $Home/.netscape/plugins
cp Linux/ShockwaveFlash.class $Home/.netscape/plugins
