Experienced Linux users will be demonstrating the power and versatility of open source software. Grassroots computing! Linux is a free operating system for which the source code is freely available and which you are free to alter and redistribute under the terms of the Gnu Public License. It is written and maintained by an international team of volunteers over the internet. It represents a new model of software development and is one of the few alternatives available to commercial operating systems. The Eugene Linux Users Group (EUGLUG) will be demonstrating many of the features of linux and of various software applications that run on top of it. Among computing professionals Linux is often considered to be a stable 'industrial strength' operating system, in Eugene it is used for various server applications and for workstation and desktop computers by individuals from all walks of life.
