(filesize * (8 + start bit + stop bit) + protocol overhead) / total seconds
Protocol overhead is a good question. It varies, but PPP and HTTP are not
huge overhead really, especially once you factor PPP packet compression.
Still, best case you're looking at ten bits per byte.
