Geesh - just forget'em and go with somebody else. Willamette.net
is local, offers dial-up accounts IIRC and they could probably
support any OS out there. Alternately, you could use a national
ISP like access4less.net ($5.95/month) which appears to have pretty
good self-help instructions for Linux users.

Some free advice: Never reward bad service if you can help it.
