the key being more code.

also, as it get's more popular, the more people will code for it,
the more people will do silly things like make MUAs that execute
things ... OK maybe not, but to be ever so "user friendly" ...

look at how many vulnerabilities have been found in graphics
libraries recently.  now, if you are using a non-graphical interface,
these don't affect you.  if you are using the libraries, you are
affected.

true, but how do you know, that as linux gets more popular, that people
aren't going to release more trojans?  with more popularity comes
more clueless users ... who will blame the OS, not their actions.
