My Dad's system is RedHat7.3, so it should have nscd. My Debian Sarge system doesn't have anything by this name. But I would still like to be able to update this file on my system without rebooting. There are two things in /etc/init.d with "dns" in them, dns-clean and pppd-dns. The former is clearly not it since it doesn't do anything for restart. The latter does nothing but call /etc/ppp/ip-down.d/0000usepeerdns, which then uses /usr/sbin/nscd. All very fine, but /usr/sbin/nscd doesn't exist on my system. Is there some other program I should be looking for?
