Try adding the : following to the kernel line in your grub.conf file: : : hde=noprobe hdg=noprobe Seems I read someting like this at one point. I also read about dissbling acpi, apic, and lapic. When I tried disableing acpi, I got a flood of messages in dmesg, and no help.
Im using lilo, so I added the apppend line append="hde=noprobe hdf=noprob hdg=noprobe" and it did disable them as you can see here from my dmesg: (sorry... not being able to paste..) Ok.. now I can paste... Kernel command line: auto BOOT_IMAGE=Linux ro root=301 hde=noprobe hdf=noprobe hdg=noprobe ide_setup: hde=noprobe ide_setup: hdf=noprobe ide_setup: hdg=noprobe : : Another option would be to just use software raid. In the testing I've : done I have rarely seen much differnce between these lightweight raid : controllers and software raid. Now a real hardware raid controller : (think 3Ware) is a completely different story. Thats what Ive been thinking, however, It looks like I wont be able to do either till I can use the drives! I'll send a message to the list with my current dmesg output.. maybe maybe something will be obvious ? BTW, I have searched errors in my dmesg, and Ive found 2 other other people with the same issue, and both posts had no replys with how to fix...
