Most systems run Windoze. That OS has historically been so

So there was no point spending the extra $$$.
Windoze has gotten more reliable. And we have several other
OSs that have long been much more reliable. It was these other
systems that made ECC a reasonable choice.
That something I'm sure you can agree on. Uptime makes up for
lost time.

Mostly I find it difficult to find motherboards that support
ECC. My current mother is ECC-less for this reason.
