Hi folks, I attended the OSU kernel driver class last night at OSU (Thanks to K-Bob for the initial head's up). The class was taught by Greg Kroah-Hartman, a very nice guy, and a well-known hacker in the kernel community. He's kinda of infamous lately for speaking out concerning the binary kernel driver debate. He also wrote a couple of good articles for Linux Journal: a good libusb and a great step-by-step "reverse-engineering a device" article in which usbfs-snoop was written.
It was a great class with good attendance. Greg covered a wide variety of material (usb specs, usb internals (interfaces, endpoints, types), in-depth sysfs, driver code, etc) at a blazing pace. I was able to keep up because I had studied his previous class slides and read a few of his driver-related articles in Linux Journal. A few people seemed overwhelmed, but Greg was very patient and did a great job at stopping and explaining. The OSU-LUG also did a great job at hosting and preparing the event. If you missed it, you missed a serious opportunity. I hope Greg does some more presentations. /jgw _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
