I didn't know Celeron D's had 64 bit stuff in them--I thought that was all
Xeon stuff.  As it stands though, the dists generally ship a generic
x86-64 kernel that works with AMD and Intel chips, and compile their
binaries the same way.  You have the option as always to replace that
generic architecture kernel with a true AMD or Intel optimized kernel.

I've gone back to a simple ia32 architecture distribution for awhile
because of the complexities associated with amd64 right now--that is, a
lot of stuff is compiled for amd64 but not tested and verified to work,
particularly in dists like Ubuntu which too much follows the Debian
autobuilder philosophy there.  Many video things don't work right, and I
do a lot with video things.
