I have a SanDisk flash player - the 256mb model on this page:
http://sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1072)-SanDisk_Digital_Audio_Players.aspx

I like it, haven't had any problems at all with it.

Pros: inexpensive, FM radio (I'm addicted to news, so NPR is a must - AFAIK
none of the iPods have FM), EQ, good sound quality, works in any OS - I've
plugged it into Ubuntu Linux, WinXP with no problems - shows up as an
external USB drive, no software required, can store non-music files, etc
Cons: runs on an AAA battery - lasts me, oh, 4-6 weeks I'd say; no ogg
playback

I've been considering going for one of the newer sandisks:

ers.aspx

These are made to compete with the Nano, so they have the rechargable
battery, but unlike Nano, they still have FM radio. Also, there is a microSD
slot for expanding the internal capacity (the models have 2, 4, or 6GB built
in), and I guess it plays video (I still agree with Jobs way back when he
said no one would want video on these little screens). If they would play
ogg, I'd have gotten one by now....
