This was the company I was trying to remember the name of last night.

Again, a thursday evening with folks that have a bit
more to offer in the Eugene scheme of things. I
always come away with new ideas, thanks!

On a few occasions last night I heard: '...on the
mailing list' So, before I forget, here are a couple
of points:

I want to ask Larry if there is anything on this wiki
that contraindicates the use of a Hardware (vs
software) RAID:
http://www.gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Gentoo_Install_on_Software_RAID

And: In your mind, is there a better tutorial?

To Mike, please pass along any links you may have for
proven, cheap rf networks. "Routerware in Linux
Journal"

And to everyone: Any ideas on how to cheaply share an
Internet connection over a WAN distance? Larry, do
you have a tutorial about 'building a simulated T1'?
Un filtered Googling of it is a mess.

And finally re: Building a Nonprofit: I've had a bit
of experience (>15yrs) with 501c3s and can tell you,
unless a good sized group of folks (over 10 to avoid
immediate burnout) %100 committed to a cause or
specific goal (OS education, cert prep, etc) such an
effort is *huge* and a major pain...

*But...* it can be very rewarding. Here is a link to
a bud's npo that was started to fill space in SV
geeks' lives who, although they were up to their tits
in IPO-offering, 19hr workdays, felt they were wasting
away. They started out by building & hosting free
webpages (about 4500 to date). Here's where the
'peacecreep, do-gooders' are today:
http://www.charityfocus.org/about.php?p=programs
At one point the founder literally ran into a (the)
Sony-East principle and took over Propoor.org, which,
btw for bored-techies, today is a great inroad to an
overseas job offer.

Here are more techy npos in order of coolness:

techsoup.org
compasspoint.org

Cheers, G
