Y'all prob'ly know this already, but I just found something encouraging,
with the dell laptop I'm zeroing in on. (It's the Inspiron 640m). The
vanilla dual core is $779, and I've got one of those "exclusive"
mailed-out coupons that drops it to 679--but, when you click on
shipping, it's another 69 bux.
Decided to call them and mention that, for that extra price, I could get
a pretty much identical HP laptop--but with the media center version of
XP, rather than their homeboy whitebread version--and HP would ship to
me for free.
The dell kat immediately wiped out the shipping charge. (Mentioning HP
at Dell must be like pharting in church).
