Haven't taken the plunge yet, but while catching up on my work from a dead
motherboard, I'm educating myself on working with the tools discussed in
this article.  <http://www.linux.com/articles/56588>. My backups before I
tried to install a dual-boot system to a combination of an older EIDE and a
new SATA drive were sans some important stuff in one subdirectory structure
I flagged the wrong way. Then trying to install WinXP to the SATA drive ate
the EIDE's partition tables.

I'd appreciate hearing about it if you find something that works.
