I'm just trying to get a handle on the hardware, such as: can the modem be
reset to clear a password and can you access the router to set things like
WPA. My gut is telling me no, I'm just trying to help a friend

For me, I reached my limit on my wireless, I added a 7dbi external, with no
change in signal.  I'm going to get my own account, instead of paying to
share.

I'm looking into the Linksys router hack mentioned here,
