Cool cool -- don't get me wrong, I am ALL for those first three
reasons, although wardriving by non-petrol means is becoming a lot
more fiscally attractive :))

As for #4, my concern is that you're spending energy to map resources
which are NOT likely to be present during the future event-ocalypse --
where will those users be getting their power and uplink from??
They/we (ie, almost all of us!) are the ones who need true backup
networking. I mention amateur radio (and should say "packet radio" in
particular) b/c AFAIK that is the specific technology best-suited for
your #4 item. You don't need to learn morse code anymore, to get a
digital license from the FCC, and it does not cost much. The
equipment can be expensive, new, but you might be able to find you can
use some of your existing equipment in other ways, too. Old-school
equipment can run low-baud modems, so that looks like good technology
to get familiar with. Honestly, I've been promoting AmRad for years
but have never managed to get directly involved with it -- so if
anyone has a digital/packet setup they could demonstrate to me, and
answer some questions, I'd love it.

cheerio,

Ben
