have some specs for reference.  I'm not familiar with this device or any of
the n-specific stuff...
*but* since no one else has chimed in for you:  I suspect you cannot use the
"Extreme N" (or possibly some funky windows config utility or usb
status/control drivers, although you could check wine if you need those).
The important news here is that you should have NO problems using the
standards, such as its 802. RFCs on wired & wireless.  Is it safe to guess
that you're choosing this model b/c some of its users will expect the
"Extreme N" features with their hardware?  Some lame waps will throttle back
(say from a speed-boost mode) unless all users are specially-equipped, watch
out for that.

It would make a great blog entry or euglug post, to recount their telling of
what accounts for lack of compatibility on the LAN.  I suspect they are
simply reducing their special-features liabilities.
