PCI compliance has made database encryption a hot topic in ecommerce. If implemented correctly, encryption can add significant protection to a database. Done incorrectly, though, encryption becomes an expensive way to weaken database security. Kevin's talk will help you create good, cost-effective database encryption solutions. Topics include cryptographic algorithms, key management, and attacks on databases. Kevin Kenan is an information security consultant based in Eugene. He is the author of "Cryptography in the Database" and is the leader of the Eugene chapter of the Open Web Application Security Project.
