I own one of these 2133's, and it's definitely been a mixed bag, but a mixed bag favoring "good". I have the top of the line model with more RAM and a faster CPU. It makes a surprisingly good little movie player thanks to unusually good quality of the speakers. I like it, and have gotten good use out of it, but if you're actually in the market for something like this now (and not just hoping to snap up a deal), I'd get one of the revamped 2140's that are just hitting the market or an Acer One.
pros: -Aluminum chassis is just badass. Overall the build quality of this machine is worlds ahead of every other netbook I've looked at. After living with this machine, they all just feel like toys. -Expresscard slot (theoretical pro here, I have yet to actually use it) -Gb ethernet -uses 2.5" HDD (makes storage upgrades simple) -High-res screen (for an 8.9" screen) -Great Keyboard -Bluetooth -Extended battery gives great life (I don't know how long exactly, but it's quite awhile) cons: -weird button placement on touchpad -slow-ish cpu (compared to atom) -Via video chipset is fiddly to make work right, but works well once configured. -High-res screen (print tends to be rendered too small to be comfortably readable, it needs to be just a bit bigger) I'd actually really like to move up the 2140 as it looks like it would correct 3 of my cons, but I can't justify the incremental improvement it would offer unless I manage to sell this one. -QH- _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
