[I'm still traveling and will once again have to miss the meeting. It's a bummer for me, because this should be a really interesting talk.]
Developing Software from Anywhere, Shannon Dealy 6:30pm Tuesday, November 17th Eugene City Brewery (downstairs) If you were to leave for seven months, would you be able to keep doing software development? What if problems occurred with the computer you were carrying, or a server back in your office? How about financial management? Taxes? Computer backups and security? Network security? Working as a business owner / consultant / custom software developer in the USA, a natural building instructor overseas, and a writer as time permits, I have to deal with all of these issues and more on a regular basis. My business, computers, and life are now structured such that I can leave at any time for any period of time I choose. This year it was for seven months straight at the begining of the year: Australia, New Zealand and China, followed by three one week trips within the USA (so far). Come and hear what it takes to manage all this, where my setup still falls short of what is needed, and what can be done to make it work better in the future. _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list euglug@euglug.org http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
