What about writing your own /etc/rc1.d/S0XsetMAC 1-liner calling the ifconfig
I am not sure which rcN.d and which digit X in S0X....

I can set it using "ifconfig eth0 hwaddr 11:22:33:44:55:66",
and then the interface works fine,
but after a reboot it's back to 00:00:00:00:00:00.  I would
like to find a way to set it permanently.
