Just to confuse things further, some Grumman aircraft (Yankee and Tiger, I think) were glued instead of riveted. Is it possible gluing plus rivets are stronger than welding?
Another thought, in a really severe crash you might want the battery box to go under the car. I was thinking making the top of the box smaller than the bottom would tend to pinch the batteries into the box in a wreck, and help the battery box go under the car in a really severe crash. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
