Has anyone heard about this??? Sorry if this ends up being a distraction, but it urks me when people make wild claims promoting EVs. If they don't disclose the truth or fail in their claims, tend to downgrade EVs even more in the public and media eyes.
Just a questionable heads up about a rather wild claim: "After several years of personal accomplishments in the alternative energy industry, Carl B. Tilley was convinced that it was possible to build an electric car that could be powered without the help of external power to keep the battery charged." "The concept to produce a useful electric performance car that would last more than a few hours and would be economical to run, safe to drive around town or across the United States and never use a drop of fuel challenges the future of transportation as we know it today." Their claims of firsts: "First DeLorean that was fully electric to reach speed of 126 mph." (yet on another page they state:) "The TEV has been driven at speeds in excess of 100MPH; however, the highest speed it can attain has not yet been reached." "First electric car to drive 102.6 miles with only 12 off the shelf standard batteries at 65 and 75 miles per hour." (yet on another page they claim that this upcoming test is to exceed this range) - "According to a DOE report the longest running EV's on the highway today can not go more than 220 miles without stopping to charge the batteries." The bottom line claim: "The TEV will be driven at highway speeds around the Nashville Super Speedway, stopping only to change drivers, for a total distance many multiples of this "longest expected distance". In fact, as the demonstration will prove, at the end of the allotted time period the battery bank will still register a FULL CHARGE condition!" So, somehow, with only 12 "off the shelf car batteries" (not even claiming to be deep cycle), and no "fuel" or external power, they claim to be able to drive 200+ miles and end up will a fully charged batteries.
