I've never taken my e-meter apart, so I'm not sure which RS-232 chip their
using, maybe Lee could tell us (most likely a MAX232A)
I do know where you can get a free sample of this part,

Rod

I have 2 blown e-meters old style and can't find a place to fix them . I
think they both blow because of high voltage leakage at fuse(corrosion
on fuse) I had one repaired years ago for about $50 don't know were
I may pop it open .I would have to replace the driver?----- Original
