Hello list,
Thanks to good advice I got from the list here I decided
to abandon the idea of Costco 105Ah batteries for another well-known
brand with better specs. US Battery has a dealer here in the bay area
that will DELIVER me 13 27TMX 120Ah for a price thats so close to
Costco's that it's senseless to not go with them. Whats more, given
10 days lead time on my order he'll get them from the same days run
at the factory, getting me a "matchtched freshness dating." Seems
US Battery is quite ev-tinkerer friendly! Right on for the useful
tips, I just jumped from a 16.4kw to a 18.7kw pack and saved a couple
hundred to boot!
Now for another annoying question:
I have a Zivan NG-3 120 volt in charger thats set for 156 volts
out and has its charge algorithm obviously set for Optima's since it
was scavenged from a Sparrow (ala Emillio.) Would using this charger
as it is on the same voltage pack, but flooded batteries pose a huge
problem? Would it really be to a great advantage for me to send it
off to the Zivan rep in Sacramento to have the chip changed to do
floodeds, or do you think my floodeds may even like the AGM charge
algorithm better? (than say a bad-boy wich was my first ill-thought
move)
Thought #2-- parlay the Zivan to someone who's doing Optimas for
a (pfc-20, pfc-50) charger thats set for floodeds??
Thanks for the help,
Vince Barma
