I discovered recently that the owner of a local used bookstore (Bookman's) is into electric vehicles, and today I stopped by to see what there was to see. He's got two Detroit Electrics (1908 and 1913) that he's restoring (he got them both off ebay!). He also has an EV1, which he gave me a short ride in. As everyone who's been in one says, man whata car! Of course, he's using it for advertising, so it's a writeoff :-) As are many other lesees, he's contemplating all the possible options for keeping (like having some 'steal' it, etc.)...
He's doing a nice job on the restorations. One has been completed enough to drive around, but he's doing some more to it, now. The other is in the middle stages of restoration. Both seem to be in very good condition, and he's been able to find the parts he needs in one place or another. He's off to Chicago I think it is this week to find more parts, and it's clear he's really having a blast with it all. Made ~my~ day, and sure gave my ev grin a boost!
