It "has been" a good EV summer for my VW pickup(Electrk). Did
well at "Power of DC " 15.856 sec, 80.14 mph and
starting going to Wednesday Grudge Nite Races At National Trails,
best low 16s. Just had installed my new carbon fiber hood and
lost another 20 lb of GVW and was ready for testing. As a John
Wayland follower (kostov and 240 volts of hawkers ) I am finding
out how hard it is to keep it all together. Last year it was
clutch, motor and a little controller tweaking. Throw in a couple
of cvt joints and then this Wednesday nite. Had warmed up the
batteries with test runs ,changed it up then loaded it up on the
Tow Dolly and of to National Trail with my trusty co pilot Dave
Erb. National Trails is only 35 miles on the other side of town
of town so less than a hour trip. Unloaded, tech, a few hard pass
around the back of the parking lot , back on the charger (PFC-20)
off the 5500 watt generator. The charger just finished up as the
call for time trials came. Off we went to the staging area. This
is a fun place to race because I can run in the import class
which are in the 12s to 18s range. To the chase, well I get
staged in first gear with the two little yellow lights on and the
tree starts to march down. Yellow , Yellow, Yellow, Green and
away I go. Just flooring the go petal, good reaction time (.600)
and then nasty nosies and high reving motor rpms. Dead on the
track about 60 feet off the start line. One dropped transmission,
maybe the final who knows till I pull it a part. ATV tows me off
the track and it is a short night at the track.
So I am looking for a new(used) transmission for a
Rabbit. What should I be looking for ? Otmar and Bill Dube are
vw racers , any ideas what to go with ??

PS Thanks Greg Pokorny for all the hard work and making "Power of
DC" a great race. I got 15 passes down the track.
Also thanks for trying to make a fall Ohio race happen.
